A Knock-out Homemade Gift|And I’m no Martha!

Posted on December 17, 2010

Nuts! Nuts are so good for you! When eaten in moderation, and as long as you don’t have an allergy to them, nuts can offer a good source of energy, a small whack of protein to feed your muscles, & can act as a speed bump to slow down the sugar absorption when eating fruit!

I love this nut recipe, and it makes an easy Christmas gift. I dare you to not eat most of the batch yourself. Why not try it out this year and look like you’re a perfect little Martha – even though you’re not!

Candied Walnuts

(original recipe by elanaspantry.com but she used pecans, which I love, but wanted to try something different, so I swapped for walnuts. She also used yacon syrup or agave, both of which are higher in fructose content, but given that this is a ‘treat’, and the amt you’d get in this recipe is low per serving…and I tried honey, which didn’t work out right…so agave it is) <–gotta love run-on sentences! Martha would never have a run-on sentence!

2 cups walnuts
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoon light agave nectar
½ tsp celtic sea salt
  1. Toss all ingredients together in a large bowl
  2. Place in a pyrex baking dish
  3. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes
  4. Cool and serve
